Scooping Up The Rings

Slowly, the bride and her father strolled down the aisle.  The groom who waited happily, looked at his lovely bride.  The church was decorated prettily.  Friends and family, impressed with the bride's beauty, stood.  Finally the bride and her father arrived  at the end of the aisle.

The ring bearer looked handsome.  He was thrilled to be in the wedding.  The pillow which he held, felt smooth in his hands.  His child-sized bow tie hung sloppily on his neck.  The handsome boy stood by the pastor.

When the pastor requested the rings which had been on the pillow during the first half of the ceremony, they had disappeared.  What had happened?  Quickly the boy glanced at the floor.  The shiny gold rings lay next to his shiny black shoes.  The ring bearer scooped up the rings, handed them to the pastor and the ceremony continued.
